Say, "goodbye" to skin tail clips that fall off on their own on the ascent. This simple DIY solution makes a secure and robust skin connection that simply works. It also saves a few grams in the process, reduces friction, and shaves off some bulk from your climbing skins. This modification kit is ideal for non-flat ski tails, and all splitboards.
Kit Included Parts for 2 Pair (4 boards):
-4 groovy hole inserts (made out of Nylon12 material on a SLS machine). The material is strong even in cold temps, but has its limits.
-4 dyneema elastic bungee cord. Normal cheap 3mm nylon bungee will work too, and it would be wise to have a hunk of extra in your pack.
-8 double capped rivets
-4 carbon fiber tube sections for end caps (epoxy them on)
You will need to provide:
-24-hour cure 2-part epoxy. This locks in the part and locks out the water.
- 7/16" (11mm) drill and drill press that can drill a 45° angle hole.
- 4 clamps to hold the ski while drilling
-Vice press: this is the best way to set the rivets. Hitting them with a hammer damages the skins
-Junk ski to practice drilling the hole a few times. Seriously.
Specific instructions will be sent once you receive your kit.
